The Impossible Machine
DRAGONS
Dragons have been seen
in the east as emblematic
of elements, or otherwise
wrathful elements such as
cruelty, greed, or disease,
Some concepts of dragon
favor a spiritual element,
and many consider them as
for example in an imagined
quest as higher beings
intellectually and manifestly
A depiction at right shows
more clearly how the "firey
cave" of a dragon's lair
may be the only warming of
an infernal presence
The typical storied travail
with dragons is the idea of
treasure hunting,
suggesting at first a thief,
in the second place a
soldier dressed in an
oven, and thirdly a wizard
with no armor who has
made bargains with evil
Beastiaries describe the
dragon variously as red,
serpentine, metalic, or
propertic as a baselisk,
spiked monster, or
illusionary wurm
